How to save unfinished family tree charts and finish them later

As much as you would like to finish a family tree chart in one session there are some situations when the tree chart is not finished.

An obvious example of this situation is when you need to retire for the evening and recommence the next day.

The work on your uncompleted tree chart will not be lost if you follow the following steps.

After saving the family tree chart you will need to restore it on your next session.

How to save the unfinished family tree chart

  1. Go to menu File.
  2. Then menu item 'Save as'.
  3. You will see a dialog allowing you to save a specified file to a folder.
  4. Navigate to the folder you want to save your family tree chart to.
  5. Key a name for the family tree chart in the file name edit box. Example: TreeChartJones_Unfinished. Ensure that the type of file is 'diagram files'. The suffix of the file is '.dgr'.
  6. Click on the Save button.

How to restore the unfinished family tree chart

  1. Go to menu File.
  2. Then menu item 'Open diagram'.
  3. You will see a dialog allowing you to select a file in a folder.
  4. Navigate to the folder you want to restore your family tree chart from.
  5. Select the file.
  6. Click on the Open button.
