How to change the page size in a family tree chart

When you generate a chart in the family tree program GENP in the Tree Charts facility the tree chart will appear over a representation of the pages your printer is set up to print.

Representation of pages in a family tree chart

This graphic shows the represenation of pages, the dotted lines, pointed to by the red arrows.

If you are generating a chart for the first time in that session then the default will be, for most people, an A4 size or Letter size.

You may have changed the page size in the facility so the page size could be something different.

Whatever the situation there will still be a representation of the pages your printer will print. The representation is the dotted outline of the pages.

Subsequently you may have made some changes to the family tree chart such as moving chart boxes. You could have done a lot more work by colouring boxes and adding artwork.

Is it now possible to change the page size without regenerating the family tree chart? Yes it is. To do this

Go to menu File > Page Setup.

Change the 'Paper size' and 'Orientation' to suit.

You should see the representation of the pages changes to reflect the page size.

Is it possible to change the page size of a chart that was saved as a diagram file? Yes it is. The method is the same as above.
