Setting up a new User

You can find all the places in the manual that refer to Society by using the Search facility in the Help file.

When installed the program is initialised for users :-

SYSU0001 who is System Operator 1

SYSU0002 who is System Operator 2

SYSU0003 who is System Operator 3

DEMO a so called demonstration user

EXAM a so called example user

In your own use of GENP you have been altering the size and location of windows. The program remembers all these preferences. You get used to seeing the program the way you want it. When you create a new user all the preferences and configurations for the new user commence at their defaults. If you test the system by logging on as the new user be aware that the program may not look the way you expected it!

When you set up a new user much of the housekeeping is done for you.

For example, the system sets up the task database for the user in the subdirectory Tasks.

For example, the system sets up the user's preferences in the subdirectory Prefs.

When you set up a new user you need to :-

  1. Create a subdirectory of the user's name in the Media directory. For example, if the new user is Theodore then create a subdirectory named Theodore.
  2. Create a subdirectory of the user's name in the Config directory.
  3. Create a subdirectory of the user's name in the Repository\User directory. Copy Repository\LangSource and all its files and subdirectories to that new directory.
