FeaturesThe GENP manual has sections dealing with using GENP Society. For example it expains how new users can be set up on the system. Each user has their own tasks (quite separate from other users) and these are manipulated in the Task Tracker. Each user has their own Media Library quite separate from other users. Read about Setting up a new User. The following screen shots show some of the features of the program. When you run GENP Society you will first see the Password Dialog. This is where you key your UserID and Password. The following screen shot shows the program after new user Caroline has logged on. You can see her user name in the Status Bar on the bottom left hand side of the main window. The Main Log shows something interesting. As expected the user logged on is Caroline, but the previous user was a different user Theodore. Theodore composed and sent a message to Caroline. The following screen shot shows the message being composed.
Caroline in turn composed a message of thanks to Theodore. This is what the message looked like on receipt by Theodore :- One powerful feature of GENP Society is the way the Media Manager changes into a user view. Often in the Media Manager you want to select some media and insert it into your GenBase. A good place to keep your media is in the Media Library. Each user has their own library. In the following screen shot we see a number of things going on. (This screen shot is a detail of the Media Manager.) When Caroline switched to the Tree tabsheet she only sees her library and any files in it. She can not navigate upwards through the directory heirarchy. (Of course the System Operator has the freedom to navigate the directory heirarchy.) Caroline has then commenced to insert a picture. She is presented with the Open dialog. This dialog is interesting because only the skeleton structure of her GENP Society installation is presented. Note that only the subdirectory Caroline is seen within the Media directory when we know there are other directories present. Thus Caroline can only choose her media. Another powerful feature of GENP Society is the way configurations give a user perspective. The following screen shot shows the situation when Caroline is about to Save her configuration for GenBase options. The interesting thing about this screen shot is that the directory shown is Caroline - her user name. We know there are other directories present but they are not shown. Caroline can only Save and Load configurations from her directory. Note that she has chosen to have the Pedigree view showing in her configuration. (This is clearly seen in the Preview.) |
