The user has chosen to highlight the relation between Gwendoline and her father. The Box Border color is red and the Box Connect color is blue.

Highlighting a relationship

Check the 'Highlight the relationship from' check box to enable this functionality.

There are two individuals needed to highlight a relationship. The "from" person and the "to" person. The "from" person should be the focus person. The same person on the Source tool panel. The "to" person may be pre-selected or you can choose the person by clicking the elipsis button.

You can choose the color of the Box Border from its color picker. You can also choose the border width via its spin box.

You can choose the color of the Box Connect from its color picker. You can also choose the box connection width via its spin box.

To get a pleasing chart where the highlight stands out try a width of four (4) units.

An example of highlighting a relationship is choosing a grandparent and grandchild. In this example there will be three (3) generations highlighted. These will be for the grandchild, its parent and its grandparent.

For Descendant Charts: Highlighting is not supported for any relationships involving sibling unions - in layouts involving Drop Down.

For example, in the GenBase Hatchepsut. The relationship between Tuthmosis I (who is the father of Hatchepsut) and Hatchepsut is not supported. This is because there is a union between Hatchepsut and her brother Tuthmosis II.

For Hourglass Charts: Only available with descendant individuals.

Exclude living persons

When sending charts to cousins or publishing a chart you may not wish to display details of living persons.

Check the 'Exclude living persons' check box to enable this functionality.
