Tree Charts - panel Find

The Find tool panel lists everyone in the chart and lets you find an individual and re-focus the chart. It includes individuals regardless of the GenBase they are in.

The above graphic shows the result of generating a descendants chart of Johannes Keipert. There were 12 individuals on the chart.

As well as the display of the focus individual, color coded based on sex, there is the individual's birth and death dates. The record number and GenBase of the individual is also given.

The display can format the names in either Surname first order of Given name first order.

Each column can be sorted in ascending or descending order. Just click in the column header to resort that column.

Having selected the row of the person of interest then click on the Find button to find that person in the chart. The chart will automatically reposition itself so that the wanted person is centered in the view.

You can also re-focus the chart to the original focus person. This is the person from whom the first chart in this session was generated from. To do this just click on the Original Focus Person button. This is a very handy feature as you often want to return to that person after having re-focused the chart a few times.

For best results pin the tool panel. If you do not pin the tool panel the found person may not be seen. This is because when you click in the chart to force the tool panel to retract, the act of clicking will remove the focus from the found person!

Descendant Charts and Find.

The Find tool panel lists individuals in the chart. This includes individuals whether they are descendants or spouses or have union with a descendant.

This does not include spouses who are unknown.

It includes the focus individual.

Note - The status panel (at the bottom of the chart) gives the number of individuals who are descendants. It does not count unknown spouses or unions. It includes the focus individual.
