Utility SYSUNAME Notes

This utility enables the user to change the name of the GenBase.

The name of the utility stands for SYS(tem)U(tility)NAME.

To work the utility must reside in the Genp directory.

When the utility runs entries are written to the log named 'LogSys_SYSU0001.LOG' or similar. There will be an entry for the start of the operation, the action taken, and the finish of the operation.

Carry out these preliminary steps :-

1) Run the Statistics report.

2) Back up the GenBase.

The first step is to select the GenBase. Click on the select button and an Open Dialog will appear. Select the GenBase via its file 'Header.dat'.

The second step is to key the new name of the GenBase.

Warning - As a general rule do not change the name to an existing GenBase name.

Note - The program will not allow you to key the current name.

The third step is only applicable to the society version. Key the user name. The field defaults to SYSU0001.

Click the button Update to commence the operation.

If the name was changed from OLD to NEW then the log will have entries like :-

     Utility SYSUNAME SYS Start *****
Utility SYSUNAME Update committed to OLD00100 rename to NEW00100
     Utility SYSUNAME access is Reside
Utility SYSUNAME Table Attr with language Default updating
     Utility SYSUNAME Updated NEW00100
     Utility SYSUNAME ******** Finish

(The OLD GenBase has only one language Default and one table that needs to be internally altered, specifically Attr.)

If you try and open the GenBase OLD you will get an error. You need to add NEW to the System Table Database then open NEW. Now run the Statistics  report for NEW to ensure the statistics are correct.

Note - Do not run whilst GENP is running.
